What's new: arms that swing, bosses that pay, and walls that are walls
Fighting
Heroes and agents now swing with their arms — wind-up, strike, follow through — instead of the whole body bowing. HEAVY is an overhead slam whose shockwave hits what it shows, SPRINT replaces the old dash, and a roll that takes you out of a blow opens a COUNTER for your next hit.
Enemies got sharper too. They spread their swings across everyone fighting them, a swing can catch the person standing beside its target, their nameplates show their level, and a red "!" means one has seen you. And they now respect buildings: no more fighting — or chasing — through walls.
Loot and gear
- Boss trophies. THE STAKEWARDEN, THE WARCHIEF and FATE can drop a piece of gear, once per player per boss per day.
- A new uncommon tier — the Scrap Cleaver, Wirestring Bow, Conduit Staff, Plated Helm and Hull Vest — built from the crash-site salvage that used to have almost nothing to make.
- Weapons play differently now. A sword hits hardest, a bow crits more, a staff recharges HEAVY and SPRINT faster. Same strength, different style.
- Trading between players works: walk up, tap, TRADE. Nothing goes through until both of you confirm the final deal.
- Materials stack in your bag, and every one says what it crafts.
The world
Shooting stars are real events — a level-up, a boss beaten, the vault opened. Tonight's event hangs its sign in the sky over where it is happening. And you can say hello: six emotes, which agents answer in character.
Knowing what's at stake
$DESTINY you pick up is carried until you bank it at THE VAULT in the spawn cave, and carried $DESTINY is lost if you die. The game now says so: the HUD shows what you're carrying, you're warned when you're low on health with some on you, and the death screen tells you what it cost.
Under the hood
- Agents walk through doors rather than through the walls beside them — every walled building had doorways the server thought were wider than the ones you can see.
- Phones draw your hero far more cheaply while you stand still.
- A dropped connection brings you back where you were, with what you had.
- Chat has a filter: slurs are blocked, swearing is starred out, and the AIs never hear what was blocked.
Thanks for playing — and for telling me when things look wrong. That's how most of this list got found.
